The Guitar pan is mostly
used as a rhythm instrument, playing chords, in the same way as an
ordinary guitar in an orchestra.
Our Guitar pans are made with notes consequently in drums left-right-left
on a chromatic scale in the same way as the Double Second.
Double Seconds are laid
out in a "whole-tone" arrangement - they are the alto voice with smooth
lower notes and clear crisp high notes.
This instrument is most versatile of all the drum voices and allows you to
play melodies and solo as well as strum chords.
Double Tenor has a
distinctive bright tone due to its note layout and shorter skirt length.
In the Steel Band these pans double the melody and harmonize in support of
the tenor pans.
